Worldwide Seafood Shipping: What Should We Know?
In order to expand your seafood business internationally, you need to possess the knowledge of worldwide seafood shipping fares, which are typically used by a lot of vendors in Indonesia. By knowing about these fares, you can choose the right one that you think will benefit the most for your business in the long run.
Is It Hard to Do Worldwide Seafood Shipping?
If “easy” is the answer you are looking for, then you won’t find it here. It still requires a lot of paperworks. However, the importing and exporting of seafood products through C-Fishery is still easier compared to other seafood exporters in Indonesia. We will help to assist worldwide seafood shipping from Indonesia and guarantee the products will safely arrive on the destination.
Currently, there are three types of shipping fare options offered by our company, including:
-
Free On Board (FOB)
Free On Board or FOB is one of worldwide seafood shipping fares typically known by a lot of freight-forwarders. It is one of the international shipping payment schemes that regulate the rights and obligations of both parties (exporter and importer) in order to transport fishery products.
Here are how FOB works on shipping world:
- The exporter and importer agree that the fares are calculated based on the total value of products and the transportation until the products safely arrive on the cargo ship.
- All fares regarding exporting tax, custom fees, and transportation from the warehouse to the port, and arrangement fees to be paid by C-Fishery.
- Meanwhile as our client, you will be charged for paying for the insurance, unload and load, and transportation fees from the destined port to your warehouse are fully paid by you.
2. Cost and Freight (CNF)
The second international shipping scheme widely known is Cost and Freight or CNF. It refers to the process where transporting fees until it reaches the nearest port is entirely the responsibility of C-Fishery as the seafood exporter. However, this scheme doesn’t include insurance fees, which means they need to be paid by our client.
The concept for CNF implementation is explained further below:
- C-Fishery will prepare the packages before or on the date of shipping written on the signed contract by our client and C-Fishery’s representative.
- C-Fishery will hold a partnership with a sea cargo company to provide the right amount of space needed for your products, which will reach the destined port as registered on the contract.
- We will fully pay the cost for freight from the port of transport until it reaches the destination, while the client pays for insurance costs.
- This scheme can only be offered to several areas of services where the shipping rates are competitive. You can check our team for this scheme.
3. Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF)
Besides FOB and CNF, C-Fishery also provides Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) shipping payment schemes. Similar to CNF, this scheme will put the overall charge to C-Fishery as the exporter. However, as the client you don’t need to pay more for the insurance, because we are already in charge to pay the entire fees structure.
The concept of worldwide seafood shipping with CIF can be implemented as follows:
- C-Fishery will provide and pack the fishery products based on the total orders written on the contract with the client.
- We will take care of the packaging process to meet the standard for international shipping.
- C-Fishery also looks after the necessary documents and permits for worldwide seafood shipping, including dealing with the local authorities and destined port.
- We will also take care of the shipping and insurance costs until the products safely arrive on the desired port by our client.
The scheme is designed for the client’s convenience, but you also need to know that among other payment schemes, CIF is more expensive.
